Privacy policy
What personal data we collect, why we hold it, who sees it and how to get it back or deleted. Last updated 3 November 2026.
Who we are
This website, britmarketingagency.co.uk, is run by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME], trading as Brit Marketing Agency (“we”, “us”). We are a company registered in England and Wales under company number [COMPANY NUMBER], with our registered office at [REGISTERED ADDRESS].
We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website and through enquiries you send us. Our ICO registration number is [ICO REGISTRATION NUMBER].
Questions about this policy go to [EMAIL].
What we collect
Not much. We only collect what you choose to send us, plus the basic technical data any website receives.
Data you give us
- Enquiries and audit requests: your name, email address, phone number (if you include it), company name, website address and anything you write in your message.
- Clients: billing contact details, access details you share for platforms such as Google Search Console or your CMS, and records of the work we do for you.
Data collected automatically
- Server logs: our hosting provider records your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of each request. This keeps the site secure and working.
- Fonts: our pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when a page loads.
- Cookies: ordinary visitors get no analytics or advertising cookies from us at the moment. The details are in our cookie policy.
We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 16, and we never ask for special category data such as health or religious information.
How we use it, and our lawful basis
UK GDPR says we need a lawful basis for every use of your data. Here’s ours.
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Reply to your enquiry or prepare your free audit | Legitimate interests (answering people who contact us) |
| Deliver SEO services, send reports and invoices | Contract |
| Keep accounting and tax records | Legal obligation |
| Keep the website secure and fix problems | Legitimate interests |
| Send occasional updates or marketing emails | Consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
We never sell your data. We don’t use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Who we share it with
Only the suppliers we need to run the business, each bound by a contract that protects your data:
- Hosting: Hostinger, which hosts this website and its server logs.
- Email: [EMAIL PROVIDER, e.g. Google Workspace or Microsoft 365], which stores our email.
- Fonts: Google, which serves the typefaces on this site.
- Professional advisers: our accountants, lawyers and insurers, when they need it.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, for example to HMRC or in response to a court order.
International transfers
Some suppliers process data outside the UK, including in the European Economic Area and the United States. Where that happens we rely on UK adequacy regulations, the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or the ICO’s International Data Transfer Agreement, so your data keeps an equivalent level of protection.
How long we keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that don’t become client work | 24 months from our last contact |
| Client records, contracts and invoices | 6 years after the end of our contract, as HMRC requires |
| Server logs | As set by our hosting provider, usually a few weeks |
| Marketing consent | Until you unsubscribe |
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the data we hold about you
- correct anything that’s wrong or incomplete
- delete your data, where we have no legal reason to keep it
- restrict or object to how we use it
- send your data to you or another organisation in a portable format
- stop marketing emails, at any time, using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us
Email [EMAIL] to use any of these rights. It’s free, and we’ll reply within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We’d appreciate the chance to sort it out first, though.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS. Access to client data is limited to the people working on your account, protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication. When you share platform access, we ask for user-level permissions rather than your password wherever the platform allows it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use personal data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be emailed to current clients.
